Kodak No.2A Folding Autographic Brownie

65x110mm
Achromatic lens
Kodak Ball bearing shutter 1/25, 1/50 en 1/100, B en T.
1917-1923

An "Autographic" is recognized easily with the dorsal trap door which makes it possible "to write" directly on the film with a small metal stylet.
The nr.2 Folding Autographic Brownie comes out in 1915. It uses a special autographic film but can also be used with a normal film 120. Its case is rectangular. In January 1917, the angles of the case are rounded. It is the case of the model photographed.

I just bought a camera like this to day for $5. The body including the shutter nad lens are in very good shape but the bellows black outer covering was falling off. I took some black liquid shoe polish and "painted" the bellows black. It turned out very nice and made the camera much more attractive. I will try some film in it soon I hope. The "stylet" was present. I hope to hear from you. All the best from Canada. Brian / August , 2008

I have one of these cameras, it was my Fathers, purchased new in 1920 S/N 432898,stylus is missing, it uses A-116 film and worked just fine the last time I used it about 10 years ago, bellows in good condition but the leather on the outside of the camera is starting to peel, easy to fix, my Dad used a remote shutter cable which still works, the whole works is in a custom made leather case.

Ive got one of these. I was quite taken aback to see there is no glass in front of the shutter. I thought the lens had been removed. Other people say the camera was made in Canada, but mine clearly states "Made in USA". More details and pictures at flickr.com/photos/artysmokes/3492813549/in/set-72157609471750679/

I have one almost the same . It does have a lens in front.Definately says MADE IN ROCHESTER NY underneath the lens and then Made in Canada on a small plate underneath the slider. Worth anything?

I have one of these, it was given to me by a much loved family friend, sadly now passed. She used it regularly as a young woman living on a country estate, in the 1930s-1940s. I have been able to date it to 1917-1919. It is in good working order. I also have a Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 520/2 and a Rolleicord VI. My Zeiss is 1931, the Rolleicord 1953, I love these old cameras and they are very affordable for the quality of picture they give.
